FAQ
Can Wheatland Van Lines help with a DITY/PPM military move?
Yes. We assist military members with Personally Procured Moves (PPM), including proper documentation, weight tickets, and cost calculations. Our agents are familiar with the process and can guide you through every step.
How much notice do you need for a military PCS move?
We can often accommodate military moves with 2–3 weeks notice. For peak PCS season (May–August), we recommend contacting us as soon as you receive your orders — even if the date is not yet confirmed.
Do you move to and from military bases?
Yes. We have experience with base access procedures and can coordinate pickup and delivery at military installations across the country.
Is my household goods shipment insured during a PCS move?
Basic carrier liability is included. Full-value protection is available as an upgrade and is recommended for high-value items. Ask your moving agent about coverage options before your move date.
Do you move into storage units or facilities?
Yes. If you are moving into a storage unit — either temporarily or permanently — we can transport your belongings directly to the storage facility. We carry storage unit moves at the same rates as standard residential moves.
What should I do to prepare for moving day?
Defrost your freezer 24 hours before. Disconnect washer and dryer hoses. Empty dressers if they are being moved. Keep essential items (documents, medications, valuables) separate and transport them personally. Make sure parking is available for the moving truck at both addresses. We will walk through the rest with you on arrival.
