Long distance moving means any relocation of 50 or more miles, or any move that crosses state lines. Unlike local moves, interstate relocations are regulated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), which means your carrier must hold an active USDOT number and MC license. Wheatland Van Lines meets all federal requirements and has completed thousands of long distance moves since 2010 — from quick Midwest hops to full cross-country relocations.

FAQ
Can Wheatland Van Lines help with a DITY/PPM military move?
Yes. We assist military members with Personally Procured Moves (PPM), including proper documentation, weight tickets, and cost calculations. Our agents are familiar with the process and can guide you through every step.
How much notice do you need for a military PCS move?
We can often accommodate military moves with 2–3 weeks notice. For peak PCS season (May–August), we recommend contacting us as soon as you receive your orders — even if the date is not yet confirmed.
Do you move to and from military bases?
Yes. We have experience with base access procedures and can coordinate pickup and delivery at military installations across the country.
Is my household goods shipment insured during a PCS move?
Basic carrier liability is included. Full-value protection is available as an upgrade and is recommended for high-value items. Ask your moving agent about coverage options before your move date.
