FAQ
Can Wheatland Van Lines help with a DITY/PPM military move?
Yes. We assist military members with Personally Procured Moves (PPM), including proper documentation, weight tickets, and cost calculations. Our agents are familiar with the process and can guide you through every step.
How much notice do you need for a military PCS move?
We can often accommodate military moves with 2–3 weeks notice. For peak PCS season (May–August), we recommend contacting us as soon as you receive your orders — even if the date is not yet confirmed.
Do you move to and from military bases?
Yes. We have experience with base access procedures and can coordinate pickup and delivery at military installations across the country.
Is my household goods shipment insured during a PCS move?
Basic carrier liability is included. Full-value protection is available as an upgrade and is recommended for high-value items. Ask your moving agent about coverage options before your move date.
Can I put personal items in my car during shipping?
We recommend removing all personal belongings from the vehicle before shipping. Auto transport insurance covers the vehicle itself — not personal items inside it. Additionally, extra weight in the vehicle may affect transport pricing.
What condition should my car be in for shipping?
Your car must be in running condition for standard transport (it needs to be driven on and off the carrier). Non-running vehicles can be accommodated with advance notice using a winch loading service for an additional fee. Please note any pre-existing damage on the condition report at pickup.
